Direction - north

Last day in Chiang Mai - hard to admit - but again I was quite pathethic and useless :) The only activity was to go in the evening to watch beginnig of a festival in main temple complex which aim is to ensure that rainy season is going to be good. So we could see a lot of little stalls along the street selling either food or set of flowers. While we entered to the temple we could see all those people holding flowers and walking around the temples. Sorrounding the temples they were leaving some of the flowers by the entrances towards 4 directions of the world. Besides that they light up the candle on one of the stups, pour the water over the budda and I think themselves as well, I'm not sure though. And the last thing to be done is to go to the main temple, put cents to litte bowls, put slice of gold on budda and with all the honour and respect go to monks for their blessing.
From Chiang Mai, together with Arjan from Holland and Alberto from Italy we took off for further north, to Pai.
Pai is a little town which is full of backapckers and apparently it's a thai hippie place.
Accommodation is very cheap over there. Since on the way our group became 4 of us as Annelice from Belgium joined us - we shared the bungalows and it was $2,5 pp/night. Not too bad,ey? Cheaper to stay there than to rent a flat in Warsaw. Conclusion is obvious ;)
First day we just wandered around the village, kept meeting friends met on our ways in Thailand. Next day we rented scooters and me and Annalice had our first tries in life :) you can be proud of me as I ended up not having any accidents nor scratches!!!!
We were exploring the beaufltiful places around the town, beautiful waterfalls, little villages in the middle of nowhere whith all waving at us, kids laughing and chasing us etc.
As we got cought by the pouring rain, ended up in this little place where very friendly local family was giving fruits, tried to talk to us as much as were able and being not pushy at all even though doing it for donations. Throughout last years they had huge landcracks in their land and can not farm any more in this place.
Next day Arjan and Alberto left for Laos which I had to skip this time due to lack of time and me and Annelice had another round to second waterfall. Basically biking around is amazing way of discovering the place and I'm very unhappy that didn't try it earlier. All jungle around, lots of friendly people, waterfalls, rivers, little hidden roads - amazing! :)
